International Film Festival in Ferreira do Zêzere
The Zêzere Cinedança International Festival is organized by Madrasta Dance, a Cultural Association based in Ferreira do Zêzere, which aims to create, promote and program the best that is done in national and international territory about this hybrid cinematographic genre that mixes these two forms of art, dance and possible screens, to generate a system of representation, which either includes the composition of a dance piece specially designed for the camera or the screen space as a performative place.
In this 1st Edition, we will essentially carry out a program that includes short film sessions and the screening or premiere of documentaries about dance, with the aim of offering new ways of experiencing dance on screen and reflecting on the contemporary reality between the body and its images.
In the diversity of approaches, the screen assumes itself as a performative, critical and sensitive space that shows the perspectives and feelings of the individual in their collective, in the relationships that transform at all times, in everyday gestures, in disagreements, in memories and in emotions , claiming a poetic look at the world and at oneself. A critical look that constitutes freedom of expression itself, movement as an action and engine of language.
By bringing together creators from all over the world, our objective is to provide meetings and transform the city of Ferreira do Zêzere, into an artistic hub in the center of Portugal, a place of creative excellence and enjoyment for cinema.
It proposes an interdisciplinary program that includes short film sessions, the screening/or premiere of a documentary about dance, workshops on choreography, movement and audiovisual, masterclasses, performances and installations aimed at various audiences, around the relationship of the body projected on the screen and in understanding the complex reality between the body and its images.
MISSION
Encourage the development, research, promotion and dissemination of dance, the body in movement, cinema (movement and cinematic narrative), non-verbal language and the resulting synergies.
Contribute to the promotion of artists and connect your work (dance films and short films) to an international, local and rural audience.
Encourage the participation and involvement of an eclectic public, not only dance lovers, but also lovers of the seventh art, and bring them closer to culture with an attractive proposal.
