PANG - PERFORMATIVE ARTS FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

PANG! Performing Arts for Next Generation is a cooperation project supported by Creative Europe programme that joins four institutional partners from Italy, Estonia, Portugal and Slovenia in order to exchange the know-how, experience and knowledge in the field of arts, especially art for and with the young audiences. Intentionally selected topic of “doomsday” that is in the focus of artistic work with the young aims to address the time and place we live in, which is on the one side supposed to be the most abundant it has been throughout the human history (“Our world in data” 2020), but is on the other  hand facing big challenges, especially for the young people (pandemic - from health restrictions to social life, isolation and education challenges, mental health issues, climate change threats, economic challenges and inequalities, overflow of information via social and other media, etc.)

Through the artistic work with the young and additional events organised and prepared by project partners in cooperation with the youngsters themselves, the project aims to discuss the notions of power and powerlessness, the notion of the concept of “Acrobats of time” where, as Carla Benedetti puts it: “put(ting) yourself in the shoes of the men who will live after of us is a more complicated cognitive and emotional process to than one might think.” and suggests that art could be the field of overcoming the “paralysis that had struck the humanities”:
